The wheel continues to keep turning as the Northeast Vikings have promoted assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Elvis Patterson as the new head coach, following the resignation of Kimble Anders.
Patterson, a graduate of the University of Kansas, played 10 years in the National Football League from 1984-1993 with the Los Angeles (now Oakland) Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and San Diego Chargers as a defensive back.
“Coach Patterson is looking forward to the challenge as he has done a great job developing our players on defense,” said Anders, who became the District’s new athletic director. “He is deserving of this opportunity and the Vikings are in great hands as he has many years of experience building teams and teaching kids how to play the game.”
The Vikings also promoted Mike Taylor, a former Minnesota Viking and Iowa State graduate, to assistant head coach.
