Occasionally, the Kansas City, Missouri School District will close school due to bad weather or road conditions. This decision is made by the District the previous evening or very early in the morning. Announcements of school closings will be carried by local television and radio stations.

If a school is suddenly or unexpectedly closed, children will be sent home. If they ride buses, then the buses will transport children to their homes. Parents and guardians should plan where their children should go in case of an emergency school closing. Options may include going to the home of a family member, neighbor or classmate.
