Applications for the 2006-07 school year in the Kansas City, Missouri School District are now available. Parents who want to ensure their children get into the schools of their choice will want to fill out applications as soon as possible. The applications may be picked at any District school building, Kansas City, Missouri Public Libraries, and at Admissions Office, located at the Board of Education building, 1211 McGee in Downtown Kansas City.
The District offers parents a choice of where their children may attend school. If you choose a comprehensive community school, your child will attend school close to home with students in your neighborhood. Comprehensive community schools provide all the courses your child needs to eventually attend college or enter the workforce. Each comprehensive community school has boundaries. The District’s magnet-theme schools deliver the basics of education as well as provide special classes centered on a specific theme. Students who wish to remain at the schools they are currently attending do not need to re-enroll each school year. A student entering middle or high school is automatically assigned to a comprehensive community school or neighborhood school.
To enroll at a comprehensive community school, take your application directly to the school in your attendance area. To enroll in a magnet school, a comprehensive school outside your attendance area or special programs such as English as a Second Language (ESL), Special Education Self-Contained Classes and Alternative Schools take your application to:
Office of Admissions, Room 100
