Lincoln High School, the forerunner to Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, will take its place with other historic educational icons when it is inducted into the Mid-America Regional Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

Lincoln High has earned its place among individuals and institutions providing outstanding educational options, and this year becomes one of the notables in the “who’s who” of education recognized by Mid-America Educational Hall of Fame for excellence in education. Inductees are selected from one or more of four criteria: 1) Demonstrates a commitment to education; 2) Works to improve quality of life in the community through their commitment to education; 3) Strives to increase educational opportunities for others; and 4) Supports significant changes that have improved the quality of education. 2009 inductees also include Ken Bingman, Dr. Jim Gill, R. Past honorees include Alvin Brooks, Audrey F. Bullard (of KCMSD’s Afrikan-Centered Education Collegium Campus), Judge Vicky Miles-LaGrange, El Centro Inc., The Hallmark Foundation, Sprint, Science Pioneers, and more.

Founded in 1865, Lincoln High has excelled academically with 90 percent of the student body successfully completing post-secondary education. More than 200 scholarships have been awarded to its graduates by the Lincoln High/R.T. Coles National Alumni Association.

The Mid-America Education Hall of Fame was established in 1996 by the Kansas City, Kansas Community College Endowment Association (KCKCC) to identify and recognize individuals, organizations, and supporters notable for their contributions to education. It also disburses 500 scholarships worth a little more than $300,000 annually.

The dinner and induction are open to the public, tickets are $65 and can be reserved by calling the KCKCC Endowment Association at (913) 288-7632.
